Inspired by the iconic artwork of Emily Carr, this three-part painting series invites students to explore the beauty of British Columbia’s forests, Indigenous cultural imagery, and dramatic natural landscapes. Through projects featuring a Single Totem Pole, Multiple Totem Poles, and Trees, students will experiment with colour, texture, and composition while learning techniques that capture the spirit and movement found in Carr’s famous paintings. With step-by-step instruction suitable for all skill levels, students will build confidence in painting and develop their own artistic interpretation of the landscapes and cultural heritage of the Pacific Northwest.
